Quatrains for Z.B.S.
By: Alice Parker
I have held it in so long,
Forgetting how to cry again.
I need you to break my heart,
To teach me how to die again.
There is beauty in the pain,
Exquisite in its damaging.
I’m damaged all the same,
Why not a song to signify?
I’ve earned my lot,
I’ve worked so hard
To make you hate me.
Leave me scarred!
There is beauty in the pain,
Beauty plagues my dreams at night.
Woe is my refrain,
Or would have been, but I am healed.
You love me too well,
No longer broken- I can tell.
What have you done?
